2013
Abstract This study constitutes an initial step towards filling a gap in corpus linguistics studies of linguistic and phraseological variation across English pharmaceutical texts, in particular in terms of recurrent linguistic patterns. Fine-tuning lexical bundles : a methodological reflection in the context of describing drug-drug interactions
2018

First, it attempts to extend earlier research on recurrent phraseologies used in the pharmaceutical field (Grabowski 2015) by exploring the use, distribution and functions of lexical bundles found in English texts describing drug-drug interactions. Conducted from an applied perspective, the study uses 300 text samples extracted from DrugDDI Corpus originally collected in the Drugbank database (Segura-Bedmar et al. 2010). Apart from presenting new descriptive data, the second aim of the chapter is to reflect on the ways lexical bundles have been typically explored across different text types and genres. The problems discussed in the chapter concern the method…
Teksty farmaceutyczne i dyskurs farmaceutyczny : definicje, specyfika i krótki przegląd pola badawczego
2020
This chapter aims to familiarize readers with the specificity of pharmaceutical discourse, including its spoken and written text varieties. I paid particular attention to two issues. Firstly, pharmaceutical discourse and pharmaceutical texts are often classified by researchers into broader category of medical or biomedical discourse. Second, pharmaceutical discourse is not autonomous as it is also permeated with medical, legal, academic and other discourses. Next, pharmaceutical discourse was described in greater detail using descriptive models proposed by Bhatia (2004) and Gunnarson (2009). Finally, a selection of research studies, including linguistic and interdisciplinary ones, conducted…
